CALL TO WORSHIP

We have come in from the winter, from a world where the lines have been blurred by the wind and the cold.

The storm has stripped away our pretenses; the ice has slowed our stride.

Outside, we are identified by the tracks we leave and the many directions we take. But here, the frost begins to melt.

We are seeking a warmth that our own cleverness cannot provide.

In this “In-Between” hour, between the wind and the hearth, the names we shouted in the streets begin to lose their sound.

We are tired of the cold winds of our own making.

Do not fear the silence of the snow. Do no fear the “foolishness” of seeking shelter in a place that looks weak to the world.

We are gathered around a single, quiet flame. As the snow falls, let us look toward the one Light that the darkness cannot overtake.

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.
Amen.
